We opened to applications on February 16th, and you can send in your application by midnight of March 1st 2026.

What kind of projects do trainees typically work on? Are they real client projects or internal initiatives?
You won’t just be shadowing others; you’ll be an integral part of a team, learning from more experienced developers, designers, and other experts and contributing to meaningful work.
You'll work on one of our client projects as an equal member of the Reaktor team. We're still not expecting you to know everything; we all have things to learn.
As a developer in a Reaktor team, you'll work on development tasks with your teammates designing, coding, testing, and reviewing code. You'll usually work on one client project at a time, and your tasks will most likely vary depending on the project you’re working on.

What technologies and tools will I be working with?
This varies a lot based on the project at hand and your personal skill stack, so it’s impossible to give a general answer. Still, we’ll definitely talk about potential projects, technologies, and tools during the interviews!
That being said, most of our client projects have aspects involving the web. This means that web stack (frontend, backend, communication protocols, relational databases, etc.) is very likely something you’ll have your hands on.

What skills or qualities do successful trainees at Reaktor usually have?
Reaktorians, both newer and those more tenured, usually share a particular curiosity, a hunger to learn, and a willingness to grow as professionals. This is something we look for in future colleagues at the beginning of their careers, too.
In addition to some technical experience and knowledge, thriving trainees usually have some previous experience in teamwork and using Git, and an idea of good development practices.

What does the hiring process look like?
We take the time to learn about your skills and aspirations and help you learn about ours. The interview process involves four or five conversations over a few weeks. Your recruiter will keep you up to date on what to expect from each stage of our interviewing process. Read more about the process in the materials on this page!

Help! I can’t seem to find the pre-assignment!
You’re right, and that is because this year, the pre-assignment is the first step of the interview process. We’ll send it to you on Monday 9 March at 9 am. For now, your application includes a few written questions instead.

Do I need to speak Finnish?
If you want to be based in our Turku or Tampere office, yes. Finnish is currently required there to match our staffing needs and to help you get onto a project quickly.
In our Helsinki office, Finnish isn’t required.

Are there any openings for designers or other experts?
This year, we’re only looking for Summer developers. We receive a lot of applications for business, marketing, and other roles, but unfortunately, we’re almost always unable to offer more junior positions in these areas. However, you can always send us an open application if you’re looking for something other than a summer job.
