Systems thinking applied community

As discussed in my in my previous post, we need a community that’s especially focused on applied systems thinking. It seems I wasn’t the only one who thinks there’s need for such a community. The response on Twitter was very positive and people from all over the world communicated their interest.

Systems thinking is a way of seeing things. However, only seeing things differently is not enough. We need to be able to do something with our new understanding.

This community should be about using a systems perspective to create positive change. We should focus on taking theory to practice. Together we can experiment and share stories.

I’d like the community to be international and online, but with strong local, face-to-face groups. Instead of creating a new community, we might want to consider joining other communities, such as Lean Systems Society or Helsinki School of Systems Design, if we feel our cause is similar enough. If our focus is different we can, of course, collaborate with other communities.

What are your thoughts on the community? What should it be like? How should we get started? Tweet with #STACom or blog about it.
